It is a modern retelling of a great Filipino love story that revolves around Yna, Angelo, Amor, Claudia and Eduardo, whose lives are intertwined because of love, poverty, power, sex and vengeance.
==Plot==
The story revolves around two young lovers. Angelo Buenavista (Daniel Padilla), the rebellious son of a powerful politician, falls in love with Yna Macaspac (Kathryn Bernardo), a simple but beautiful adopted daughter of a retired policeman. Unbeknownst to them, their love story is destined to repeat history.
Twenty years ago, the promise of love began when a simple and aspirational girl, Amor de Jesus (Jodi Sta. Maria), fell in love with a rich man, Eduardo Buenavista (Ian Veneracion). After all the challenges and objection of Eduardo's affluent family, the two find themselves struggling to find the freedom to love. Eduardo's mother, Doña Benita (Pilar Pilapil), oppose their relationship, as Amor is just a barrio lass. Instead, Doña Benita wants Eduardo to marry Claudia Zalameda (Angelica Panganiban) for business and political reasons. Things worsened when Eduardo's adopted brother, Diego (Bernard Palanca), chases and rapes Amor. Unknown to Amor, she was already pregnant with her child with Eduardo, Maria Amor. Claudia witnessed the rape incident, but was convinced by Doña Benita not to help Amor. Eduardo, upon learning about the rape incident, threw away all his feelings and love for Amor and he betrays their relationship, not believing that his brother could have raped her and not listening to Amor's explanation since he thought she was lying. He attempts to bribe her to leave him alone. Amor loses all hope and is disgusted by his offer of money. Before Eduardo was to marry Claudia, he regained his senses and looks for Amor but it was too late. He never found Amor and so he marries Claudia. Amor raises her daughter, Maria Amor, along with the help of her family. She leaves to work abroad as a domestic helper while Maria Amor is still a child. She returns to the Philippines, only to find their town had been destroyed by a strong landslide. Amor's entire family perished and she falls under the assumption her daughter was gone too. She vowed to take revenge on all those who destroyed her life. Maria Amor turned out to be alive after being saved and taken in by Isko Macaspac's (Ronnie Lazaro) family. She will grow up as Yna Macaspac. Her adoptive parents got her new name from the "Ynamorata" necklace which became broken to just "Yna" after the tragedy. The necklace was originally Eduardo's gift to Amor, which she later gave to her daughter before leaving for Hong Kong to work as a domestic helper.
Many years later, Yna meets Angelo (Eduardo and Claudia's son), who is spoiled, reckless and holds a bitter relationship with his father. One night, after being sent off to do an errand for her sister-in-law, Julieta (Sunshine Garcia) - who owns a brothel/restaurant that Yna was forced to work in - Yna was attacked by several men and almost experienced the same fate as her mother. Fortunately, Eduardo (now, the governor of Punta Verde) witness the kidnapping/rape attempt and saves her. The incident initiates a bond between Yna and Eduardo, becoming protective of her. To help Yna's family pay off their debts, Eduardo sends them to work at the Casa Corazon resort, which Angelo manages. Angelo develops an attraction for Yna but it turns into hate when he thinks she is having an affair with his father. Once he confronts her and learns she is innocent, he begins to repair their friendship and falls deeply in love with her.
Meanwhile, Amor has returned from the United States as Amor Powers, widow of billionaire James Powers. With a heart full of resentment and hatred, she has made a name for herself in the business world, all the while planning her revenge against the Buenavistas, whom she blames for the sufferings she endured in the past and for the death of her family and daughter. An all-out war begins between Amor Powers and Claudia Buenavista.
